R. Scott Bell, Esq.
Attorney
” I truly believe in the value of helping people and making a difference in their lives.”
A compassionate Bakersfield bankruptcy attorney, Scott grew up in the Southwest part of Bakersfield and has been practicing for over 20 years. He has successfully represented thousands of clients throughout California.
Being an attorney and practicing law is important to Scott because he believes in the value of helping people and making a difference in their lives. He strives to not only help his clients better understand their rights as citizens, but give them the fresh start financially that they need and deserve. He understands that no one intends to file for bankruptcy, but it is unfortunately what needs to happen for some individuals in order to move forward. Scott is driven to do everything in his power to help his clients get out of the overwhelming debt trouble that they’re facing. He makes a genuine effort to get to know all of his clients, as he understands that everyone’s circumstances are different. He encourages his clients to call whenever they need to talk or have a question about their case, the bankruptcy process, or what to expect next.
Before college, Scott worked for the Kern County Information Systems Department, Kern Medical Center, and the Kern County Sheriff’s Department. He graduated from CSU Bakersfield with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1995 before attending law school at Pepperdine University School of Law where he was the President of the Entertainment Law Society.
He returned to Bakersfield after graduating from law school in 1998 where he worked for the Kern County Public Defender’s office. While jury trials were fun and challenging, he went into private practice a year later where he felt he could do the most good.
Scott was also a Judge Pro Tem in Kern County Superior Court, where he heard and decided many types of cases.
While he is well-versed in many areas of the law such as Family law, Criminal Defense, and Personal Injury, Scott has focused on Bankruptcy as a tool to help families get back on their feet after dealing with tough financial times.
Scott has represented thousands of clients, and can’t go anywhere without saying “Hi” to existing and former clients.
At one time, Scott had offices located in Modesto, Merced, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Temecula. The time requirements of running so many offices were simply too demanding on his family, so he has pared back and is now living a much simpler life with just the Bakersfield office.
Having filed thousands of bankruptcies makes Scott one of the most experienced bankruptcy attorneys in the state.
Scott is known for his calm, friendly, and reassuring manner.
Scott is married, has four great kids, a Pug named “Gertie”, and is an instrument-rated private pilot. In his spare time he writes for several technology blogs, advises sites on SEO and Social Media Marketing, and spends too much time wine tasting in Temecula.
