Tax Refunds Delayed
Hang tight-your tax refunds are on the way!
Just a quick note to spread the word that according to Forbes (as well as other news organizations), any tax refund you may be owed as a result of taking the Earned Income Credit (EIC) will be delayed by law until at least February 15, 2017. This is a result of a 2015 law designed to allow all filers’ W-2s and 1099s to be submitted to the IRS so that they can be compared to the filed tax returns to look for filers electing to take the EIC when they aren’t allowed.
If you took the EIC this year, you won’t be getting your tax refunds until after February 15th. This applies to most of my clients as they both claim the EIC, but also use their tax refunds to pay for their bankruptcy.
So, hang in there, your refund will be there soon enough, and we can get your fresh start going!
